WRITERS' GUIDELINES
Our primary interest as publishers is in considering
manuscripts for
publication of poetry, short fiction, young
adult children's books and other
prose work that reveals a unique and original
perspective on the American
Midwest. We prefer to have interested writers
contact us first, by mail, to
describe the work they have created. If we are
interested, we will ask to
preview a sample of 6 to 10 poems or up to 50
pages of prose. We favor
manuscripts in which at least one-half of the
content has been previously
published or scheduled for future publication.
Please include a brief
biographical statement and a publication credit
list with your sample
manuscript. Always include a SASE with your
manuscript. We currently receive
over 400 manuscripts a year and our response
time can vary. Multiple
submissions are acceptable as long as we are
kept informed about them.
We do not publish full-color picture books for
younger readers, mysteries, or most nonfiction.
Please make an attempt to preview our other
published works to see if your book is appropriate
to our list of publications.
